Hello from Salatiga, Indonesia. My name is Natalia Kurnia Christianik, or everyone usually call me Nia. I am one of the blessed students who receives Scranton’s scholarship, and I want to say thank you for being able to get this scholarship. It is very helpful in supporting my college, and I am very grateful for it. Also, I am really sorry for writing this greeting very late, but I will make sure to write more often in the future.

Lately, I have been joining a praying team who pray for patients in Tlogorejo Hospital located in Semarang. We do this activity every Saturday at 10 am. This activity makes me realize how grateful we should be for being healthy.

When I was 12, I got an illness called Hyperthyroid which made my heart beat faster and made me feel tired even when I was doing nothing. This really affected my school life, especially in PE class that required me to do lots of physical activities. I also sweat, and feel hot all the time which was very uncomfortable for me. Therefore, I always pray every night asking God to heal me, because I know there is no doctor better than Jesus.

Then, one day when I was 20, God answered my prayer. There was a treatment that made all my sufferings gone. I no longer sweat as much as before, and my heart rate became normal. I don’t need to turn my fan on while sleeping, and I can move more freely than before. I know it was all God’s blessing, and His miracles still happen.

With this belief, I want to share with other people about the power of a prayer. I have been praying for 8 years, and God answers my prayer. Therefore, I want to pray for other people who might also be suffering from a certain illness. Prayer may be a simple act, but the effect it makes is not simple at all. I can get this scholarship also because God answered my prayer. I have been praying to get a scholarship, so I can help my mother and will not be a burden to her. Every night I prayed to Him, and when I saw the announcement of this scholarship, I felt like this is God’s answer for me. I registered myself in, and prayed that I will be accepted. The e-mail I got congratulating me for being accepted is another proof of the “power of prayer”. Therefore, I will not doubt the power of prayer, and leave everything in God’s hand. As it is written in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, “pray without ceasing”, and that’s what I will do in my life. One more time, I am really thankful for this scholarship and may God return your kindness.
